About

IRD’s mission is to improve the well-being of vulnerable communities through research and health delivery.

IRD was founded in Karachi, Pakistan, where a lack of well trained researchers, unrealistically low salaries, and generally poor working environments presented a challenge to overcome and an opportunity that we continue to fill. New opportunities in Asia and Africa, and our pioneering work in areas where global health, development economics and information technology converge, have provided an exciting impetus for growth.

Our experience spans information technology for health, surveillance and control of infectious and non-communicable diseases, vaccines, global health surgery, community development, and technical assistance to governments and international agencies.

IRD includes professionals and researchers in global health delivery, information technology, development economics and communications design. Our managers and associates have world-class training, and access their local and global networks to develop and implement innovative new solutions to health and social problems.

With over 300 staff operating in 5 countries, IRD has become a regional resource for global health research and delivery. Now based out of the UAE, IRD operates in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan and Tajikistan. Plans are being formalized for implementing new grants in East and Central Africa between 2012-2015.

While our growth has been remarkable by any standards, it is the people that work here that truly stand out. And no matter where we work, our team brings the same drive for innovation and commitment to saving lives.
