IRD Directors and Managers oversee each stage of program design and delivery. Project teams are coordinated by Research Associates trained in health, social sciences, and economics. IT Associates and the Data Management Center work closely with each project team to develop innovative data collection and reporting tools.
There are currently seven main program areas at IRD; Community Development, e-Health, Global Health Surgery, Infectious Diseases, Non Communicable Diseases, Technical Assistance and Vaccines.
Each program defines key objectives and deliverables for projects and is supported by specialized units such as Program Development, Epidemiology, Information Technology, Data Management, Health Communications, Grants Administration and an Institutional Review Board.
Fieldworkers are almost always members of the community themselves, employed and trained under individual projects. Our research and service programs encourage community participation in the design and delivery of initiatives to ensure interventions are sustainable and sensitive to the needs of the community.
